Fayetteville, NC (pop. 208,000) The City of Fayetteville is seeking dynamic, executive level candidates for an Assistant City Manager position. Ideal candidates will have well rounded management experience in both the public and private sectors preferably with a focus in planning and/or public finance. The City of Fayetteville is an award winning city that is home to Fort Bragg, the Army’s headquarters for Airborne and Special Operations forces, and Pope Army Air Field. Located in Cumberland County, the City is more than 250 years old and steeped in history. The City’s 148 square miles include an historic downtown shopping area, numerous historic sites, seven museums, three colleges and universities, multiple entertainment venues, and award-winning golf courses. Fayetteville is conveniently located within two hours of Myrtle Beach and other east coast beaches, as well as within close proximity to camping, fishing and hiking. The Assistant City Manager will have a portfolio of responsibilities that will be determined following the candidate’s appointment. Areas will be assigned to this position based upon the experience of the selected individual and the overall needs of the organization.
