GovTemps is accepting resumes for the contractual position of Interim Director of Planning and Building Services at Teton County, WY (pop. 21,500). County offices are in the Town of Jackson.  The County is the southern gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks and home to three world class ski resorts. 

The target start date is early November 2019 with an anticipated minimum term of six months.  Prior recruitments have not resulted in filling the position; thus, the interim position will be of interest to candidates desiring the position on a permanent basis. The County is tentatively planning to initiate a formal recruitment process soon after the new year.

About the Position. The position reports directly to the County Commissioners’ Administrator and oversees 16 full-time staff members in two divisions: Planning and Building.  Person will work collaboratively with the Town of Jackson, and closely with the Board of County Commissioners and Planning Commission. 

Position Requirements.

  • Interim candidates should have several years of local government planning and land use development experience.  
  • Desired traits include responsiveness, service orientation, technical competence, political astuteness along with strong administrative, management and leadership skills.
  • The position will be expected to attend twice monthly evening meetings of the Planning Commission.
